attorney_of_the_year_2

Before founding Lundberg Legal Ethics in 2015, Charles Lundberg served as a partner at the Minneapolis trial law firm of Bassford Remele for more than 35 years, practicing primarily as a “lawyer’s lawyer” — advising attorneys and law firms on matters involving legal malpractice, legal ethics, and other areas of the law of lawyering. He served for twelve years on the Minnesota Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board, including six years as Board Chair, and is recognized nationally as a leader in the fields of legal ethics and professional liability. He has served as President of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, the Chair of the Professional Liability Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsel, and currently serves on the ABA Standing Committee on Lawyers Professional Liability.

During his active practice at Bassford Remele, Mr. Lundberg was repeatedly recognized as a Top 100 Super Lawyer and was named a Top 10 Appellate Super Lawyer.  For many years, he has been selected as a Leading American Attorney and one of The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of Appellate Law and Legal Malpractice Law.  In 2002, he was featured as one of Minnesota Lawyer’s Attorneys of the Year and he was awarded the Minnesota State Bar Association Professional Excellence Award in 2005. In 2016, Minnesota Lawyer awarded him the Attorney of the Year – Outstanding Service to the Profession Award. Mr. Lundberg has also twice been named The Best Lawyers in America Minneapolis Legal Malpractice Law – Defendants Lawyer of the Year (only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year”) (2013 and 2024).

Mr. Lundberg has developed an in-house CLE program for law firms to help their lawyers satisfy CLE ethics requirements in an in-house or firm retreat setting, specifically tailored to address the types of conflicts or other problems that arise in each firm’s unique practice areas.

Mr. Lundberg has always been actively engaged in teaching. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at all three Minnesota law schools, most recently at his alma mater, the University of Minnesota Law School, teaching courses on Professional Responsibility and Legal Malpractice Law. For the past several years he has focused on producing programs and speaking at national legal malpractice and ethics conferences.
